Will Irish Start Ups Conquer Europe in 2007?
At the last Web 3 conference in Paris, three Irish Start Ups (TouristR, Pxn8 and PutPlaces) showcased their concept and at least two more were networking (Nooked and LouderVoice).
This made Ireland, the second country in terms of representation with almost 10% of start ups being Irish. That's not bad for a country that counts only 0.1% of the European population!
I can't wait to see more in 2007, Happy New Year to all.

I think you’ll find that Segala was there also.

Sorry Paul, forgot to mention Segala and other Irish imminent representants like Tom Raferty (and I’m sure there are more to mention) which makes it even more impressive.

I’d be very interested to see what benefit these conferences are for presenting at. We were considering taking Bigulo.com over to the future of web apps conference, but 5K for 10 minutes seems crazy expensive.

At the web3 conference, start ups had to apply and attend the conference but if you were selected, there was no extra costs to present. It’s the same for Innovate Europe in Saragosse next May, if you’re interested registration is still open. The main benefits of these presentations is to facilitate meeting people (I met potential partners and investors following the presentation at the Web3) but it’s certainly not worth 5k! Also if one has to pay to present then I don’t think it would be as attractive for the audience as it’s clearly pure advertising. I’m also thinking of going to future of web apps conference (as an attendee only!), would anyone recommend it?
