Web2Ireland event Speaker – Daniel Waterhouse
Daniel Waterhouse, Sector Group, 3i.
Daniel joined 3i at the start of 2006 as a sector adviser.
Daniel’s role involves shaping the strategy for investments in internet/web 2.0 businesses. He helps the investment team discover new businesses and is a key memebr of the team reviewing internet related investments around the world. He provides advice to 3i’s existing portfolio of companies and provides introductions to key industry contacts for them. Daniel also builds a network within the sectors corporate players, entrepreneurs and thought leaders.
Prior to joining 3i, he spent 6 years with Yahoo! in the corporate development, strategy, planning and finance functions. He was involved in the strategic planning of the European business, managed the acquisition process on a number of major deals including the acquisition of Kelkoo (a pan European price comparison site) for $600M. He has experience across the numerous different businesses that Yahoo! are involved in (including search, communications, media, advertising and communities) and also spent time focussing on the underlying technologies and the mobile data space. He was also responsible for the financial planning and management for the business between 2000 and 2002.
Daniel also spent 3 years with PricewaterhouseCoppers in the Management Consultancy practice as part of a specialist business modelling team.
He has a BA and DPhil in Applied Mathematics from Oxford University.
