Sligo OpenCoffee is ready for launch

conor 21st of March 2009 by conor

The crew in Sligo are kicking off an OpenCoffee and it’s about time! That area is a real hub of business and web activity so it should be very popular.

The first one is on April 2nd in the Clarion Hotel in Sligo Town at 11am. All info over on the blog.

Best of luck to the organisers, we look forward to hearing lots more about it.

Mayo with your OpenCoffee?

conor 11th of February 2009 by conor

Thrilled to hear that they are launching an OpenCoffee Club in Mayo. Chris Kerndter let us know that it’s on February 25th at 11.30am in Castlebar in the Royal Theatre Pub.

OCC is getting stronger every day in Ireland. Our Cork meetup now has more than 20 people turning up every two weeks, peaking at over 30 recently. Around the island we now have:

Kilkenny to have their first OpenCoffee this morning

conor 7th of January 2009 by conor

Delighted to hear that the KK crew are finally having an OpenCoffee at 11.30 this morning in the Kilkenny Cafe located downstairs in Market Cross Shopping Centre.

They join Cork, Limerick, Dublin, Waterford, Belfast and Galway as an OCC location.

If you are based anywhere in the South-East, it’ll be worth checking out. We have people driving 30+ miles to Cork OCC on a regular basis, so hopefully they’ll have attendees from Wexford, Waterford, Carlow, Tipperary, Offaly etc.

BarCamp Cork II ?

conor 18th of July 2008 by conor

As many of you know, the first BarCamp in Ireland was held wayyyy back in September 2006 in Cork. It is still remembered as a wonderful day and I met many of the people I now know well for the first time there. Since that event in Webworks there have been further ones in Waterford, Dublin, Galway, Belfast, Kilkenny and Limerick.

Recently it was suggested to me that we have another one in Cork in January. I lobbed the idea out at an OpenCoffee to discover that there was tons of pent-up demand for a BarCamp and that January was too far away.

A further conversation with John Handelaar at the hugely successful and very barcampy OpenCoffeeClub BBQ got me all jizzed up about having one sooner too.

The next BarCamp is PodCamp II in Kilkenny on September 27th so I’d like to propose the next Cork one for the November timeframe. Sufficiently long after PodCamp but not too close to Christmas.

Please use the PollDaddy poll below to indicate levels of interest and, if it is there, I’m sure we can arrange something down here :-)

UPDATE: I can’t see how to edit a poll after it is published but one great suggestion has been made, which is to offer “Any Saturday in November” as an option. If that’s what you’d prefer, just enter it in “Other”
